About Mike
I live in Co. Mayo in the West of Ireland and originally qualified with a BSc. (Pharm) from Trinity College Dublin. I subsequently worked in the area of Community Pharmacy for 18 years before a love of history, folklore and mythology brought me to Rathcroghan, the Royal Site of Connacht in Co. Roscommon, where I have worked for the last number of years as a Tour Guide/Research Assistant and Deputy Manager of the visitor centre.
I also hold a Higher Diploma in Archaeology from NUI, Galway and have co-authored a number of publications and papers pertaining to Rathroghan, including SlíSeandálaíochta Ráth Cruachan’ – the Rathcroghan Archaeological Trail and most recently Rathcroghan – The Guidebook in 2018.
I feel that Rathcroghan is exceptional in Ireland as a place where our folklore and mythology meets our archaeology and history to leave us a unique blend between our monuments and the legendary characters associated with them.
